Istanbul Technical University's 247th and 248th year undergraduate graduation ceremonies, which are preparing to celebrate its 250th anniversary, were celebrated with enthusiasm at ITU Ayazağa Campus within the framework of the measures taken according to the pandemic conditions. At the graduation ceremonies held at the ITU Stadium with a magnificent organization, approximately 6000 undergraduate students, 3531 from 2020 and 2290 from 2021, received their diplomas. Academicians, alumni and their families were also included in the joy of graduation of our students. Our students, who successfully completed the academic year, were reunited with their school and friends, whom they had been separated from for a long time due to distance education, and at the same time received their graduation diplomas.
In ceremonies, Serkan Keleşer, who graduated from ITU Mechanical Engineering in 1994, General Manager of ETİ Maden and Chairman of the Board of Directors; H. Çağatay Öz Doğru who graduated from ITU Electronics and Communications Engineering in 1989, Esas Holding Board Member and CEO and İsmail Gülle, President of Turkish Exporters Assembly, graduated from ITU Electrical Engineering in 1983, gave their speeches.
ITU 2020-2021 academic year undergraduate graduation ceremony brought together Higher Education Council (YÖK) President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, ITU Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail Koyuncu, the President of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) İsmail Gülle, the Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Ekrem İmamoğlu, and the AK Party Istanbul Provincial President Osman Nuri Kabaktepe.
During the ceremonies held at the ITU Stadium, our graduates and faculty members were invited to the stage for a photo shoot, while the names of the students who finished first, second and third in their departments were read. After a mini concert by Simge Sağın, a graduate of ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory Voice Education Department, the ceremony ended with an oath and cap throwing ceremony performed by ITU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Şule Itır Satoğlu with the students.
