A patent titled “Production Method of Thermal Insulation Material from Pantyhose Waste,” for which our faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hande Sezgin and Assoc. Prof. Dr. İpek Yalçın Eniş are listed among the inventors, has been granted by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office under registration number TR 2024 003967 B.
This patent covers an innovative production method that enables end-of-life pantyhose waste to be recovered and converted into thermal insulation material. The developed method aims to both reduce the environmental burden of textile waste and contribute to the development of sustainable insulation materials.
The patent was developed as an output of the ITU BAP General Research Project titled “Development of Acoustic and Thermal Insulation Materials from Polyamide/Elastane Pantyhose/Knee-High Sock Waste” (Project Code: MGA-2022-43672).
