The 2025–2026 Academic Year Graduation Ceremony of the ITU Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design was held on July 11, 2026, with the participation of academics, students, families, and representatives from the textile and apparel industries.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem, followed by the opening address delivered by our Dean, Prof. Dr. Burçak Karagüzel Kayaoğlu. Following the Dean’s speech, Yusuf Olcayto, President of the TETSİAD Academy; Ümit Özüeren, Co-Chair of the Board of the Turkish Clothing Manufacturers’ Association; Mustafa Can, Member of the Board of the Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association; and Kamil Hilal Suerdem, Member of the Board of the Istanbul Apparel Exporters’ Association, addressed the graduates.

Following a video presentation highlighting the time our students spent at the Faculty and the memories they shared, Talha Barış Sadun, the top-ranking graduate of the Department of Textile Engineering, delivered a speech on behalf of the graduating students. Elif Yeniay, the top-ranking graduate of the Textile Development and Marketing Program, also took the stage to deliver her graduation speech.

Certificates of achievement and gifts were presented to the top-ranking students of the Department of Textile Engineering by our Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Şenol Ataoğlu, and our Dean, Prof. Dr. Burçak Karagüzel Kayaoğlu.

Talha Barış Sadun, who ranked first in the Department of Textile Engineering; Muhammet Görkem Yılmaz, who ranked second; Ekin Yılmaz and Beyzanur Kocaman, who shared third place; as well as Elif Yeniay, who ranked first in the Textile Development and Marketing Program, and Zeynep Dönmez, who ranked second, were presented with gold awards and gift vouchers by industry organisations.

We would like to thank Karınca Tekstil, İnovenso, Palmiye Tekstil, Tepar Tekstil, Karasu Holding, İpekyol, Colin’s, and LC Waikiki for their valuable support of our top-ranking students.

The ceremony continued with the graduates taking the Engineering Oath under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Bülent Özipek, retired faculty member and founding dean of our Faculty. Commemorative graduation certificates were then presented by the faculty members attending the ceremony.

The graduation celebrations culminated in the traditional cap-throwing ceremony, followed by commemorative photographs taken by students, academics, and families. The programme continued in the front garden of the Faculty with refreshments sponsored by Karafırın.
