Within the scope of the "Education and Academic Cooperation Protocol" signed between our faculty and IPEKYOL to develop projects and professional training programs for the ready-made clothing and retail industry, our Fashion Design Program students are designing the "IPEKYOL Autumn-Fall 2021 Collection".

ITU FASHIONSHOW Design Competition, which is held regularly every year with the work of ITU Textile Technologies and Design Faculty, Fashion Design Program students, meets with Turkish Textile and Apparel Industry stakeholders in a different format within the scope of pandemic measures this year.

A collection consisting of five pieces to be prepared by our students for the Fall-Winter 2021 season will be produced by IPEKYOL and offered for sale on the company's online sales site with the tag "#itumodatasarimogrencileritarafındantasarlanmıstır" (designed by ITU Fashion students). The selected design will be shared on the relevant social media accounts of both IPEKYOL and our faculty, by creating images of all processes from the production stage to catalog shooting. In the team formed to mentor the students in the preparation stages; Ipekyol Creative Director Hilal Şendur and Twist Design Manager Fatma Arslan and ITU Fashion Design Program faculty members and staff Prof. Dr. Cevza Candan, Dr. Belgin Görgün, Şükriye Y. Filiz, together with our graduates who contribute to the program as part-time lecturers will also take part.

The collections of other students participating in the competition will be shared on the Instagram account of our faculty and will be presented to our followers, and those who are interested will have the opportunity to contact the designers of the collections.

İTÜ Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design

Textile Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) is the first and the single one offering textile engineering education in Istanbul, and also comes first among the top textile engineering schools in Turkey. Its history could be traced back to 1955; the year in which the textile division was established in the body of Mechanical Engineering. The school gained its current name and independent status in 1983. Therefore, it is obvious that the Textile Engineering Department is fairly new compared to the history of İTÜ stretching back to 240 years.
