The "STEWART" project, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgür Atalay, one of our faculty members, was selected for funding through the IraSME call.

The "STEWART" project, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgür Atalay, one of our faculty members, was deemed worthy of support within the scope of the IraSME call.

The project, in which the ITU Computer Engineering Department will also take part as one of the executive institutions, will continue to work for 24 months. Within the scope of the project, it is envisaged to develop medical e-textiles using biomedical, textile, electronic, and computer technologies, as well as wearable textile-based sensors. These products can be used for purposes such as measuring physiological health parameters such as respiration and EKG, monitoring human body joint movements, obtaining postural information, making instant follow-up and early risk analysis, using them in preventive health services, providing performance support with feedback, or providing motivation for individual goals. Small and large-scale enterprises from Turkey and Belgium will also contribute to the project.

We congratulate our esteemed faculty members and wish them continued success.

İTÜ Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design

Textile Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) is the first and the single one offering textile engineering education in Istanbul, and also comes first among the top textile engineering schools in Turkey. Its history could be traced back to 1955; the year in which the textile division was established in the body of Mechanical Engineering. The school gained its current name and independent status in 1983. Therefore, it is obvious that the Textile Engineering Department is fairly new compared to the history of İTÜ stretching back to 240 years.

ITU Textile Engineering Undergraduate Program is an accredited program by ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC),, (Criteria: General Criteria Only (EAC)). For further information on accrediation of ITU Textile Engineering Undergraduate Program, please visit the following link:
