Istanbul Technical University's 251st anniversary celebration featured a symbolic graduation ceremony, nostalgic activities, and heartfelt speeches, highlighting the enduring bond between alumni and the university.
As part of Istanbul Technical University's 251st anniversary celebrations, a festival and symbolic graduation ceremony were held on May 25, 2024, organized by the ITU Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. This vibrant event brought together alumni, their families, and the university's esteemed academic and administrative staff for a memorable celebration.
The event commenced in the Orhan Öcal Giray Conference Hall with opening speeches by Prof. Dr. İlker Murat Koç, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Nevin Çiğdem Gürsoy, Dean of the Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design.
Following the opening remarks, participants enjoyed a delightful concert, which added joy to the day. A heartfelt speech by Kemal Cihan Seyithanoğlu, a Textile Engineering graduate celebrating his 20th anniversary, eloquently captured the spirit and significance of the occasion on behalf of the alumni.
Graduates were honored as they received symbolic diplomas from faculty members. In the foyer area, they reunited with family members and classmates, reliving nostalgic moments. The celebration continued as alumni gathered once more in the university's historic front courtyard to reminisce about the past.
In the final segment of the program, nostalgic lectures delivered by Prof. Dr. Habip Dayıoğlu and Prof. Dr. Bülent Özipek in the D331 amphitheater added a special touch to the event.
This significant day not only celebrated the achievements of ITU alumni but also symbolized the strong bonds that have linked the university's past and present.
