As part of the visit, a "Evaluation and Future Outlook Meeting" was held with the participation of our academic and administrative staff.

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, our Rector, Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, along with the university administration, visited our faculty. As part of the visit, a "Evaluation and Future Outlook Meeting" was held in the Orhan Öcal Giray Conference Hall with the participation of our academic and administrative staff.

During the meeting, the vision of our faculty to train competent engineers who can apply knowledge in textile science and technologies to engineering problems was emphasized. The pivotal role of our faculty in textile education, particularly in contributing value to the traditional textile sector during the green transformation process, was discussed. Together with our Dean, Prof. Dr. Nevin Çiğdem Gürsoy, ideas were exchanged to create a roadmap for the future within a framework of collective wisdom.

Another agenda item of the meeting focused on the goal of leveraging the university's potential more effectively to create a significant impact. The importance of developing value-oriented projects and producing sustainable solutions through research was highlighted.

Our Rector expressed his belief that such meetings, which bring together academics and administrative staff, will elevate our university to higher levels. He also affirmed his support for the steps our faculty will take in this direction.

The meeting concluded with the message, "By continuing to research and learn under the light of science, we will transform the future together!" This reaffirmed our university's commitment to developing innovative and sustainable approaches.

İTÜ Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design

Textile Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) is the first and the single one offering textile engineering education in Istanbul, and also comes first among the top textile engineering schools in Turkey. Its history could be traced back to 1955; the year in which the textile division was established in the body of Mechanical Engineering. The school gained its current name and independent status in 1983. Therefore, it is obvious that the Textile Engineering Department is fairly new compared to the history of İTÜ stretching back to 240 years.
