ACCESSIBLE PORTFOLIO PREPARATION COURSE FOR FASHION DESIGN PROGRAMS

Program Start: 10.07.2021 (Distance Education with Zoom)

Last Registration Date: 11.07.2021

Training Duration: 12 hours (Saturday 10:00 − 13:00, Sunday 10:00 − 13:00)

Training Quota: minimum 10 and maximum 30 people

Aim of the Program: A short but intense and effective training program is aimed for those who want to study Fashion Design, continue their education and want to improve themselves in this field, accompanied by academicians who are experts in preparing a fashion design portfolio. Fashion Design Programs can request portfolios during student selection processes, and ITU-FIT Fashion Design joint degree programs accept students in this way. Participants who will participate in this course for different purposes will learn the most accurate academic and technical information from ITU's expert academicians. Successful participants will have a certificate of the training they attended in order to ensure their responsibilities to ensure the standard of service they provide at a high level.

Participant Profile: Persons who are about to apply for Fashion Design Programs, who work in the fashion and ready-made clothing retail industry, who aim to improve their education and career as a fashion designer, and who attach importance to continuous education for their professional development can participate in this program.

DAY 1, Saturday, 10.07.2021; Transfer of general fashion information; explanation of fashion terms, information about the fashion industry, information about trends, general information about preparing a portfolio...

DAY 2, 11.07.2021 Sunday; Introduction to fashion figure drawings and the list of materials, the necessity of drawing clothes on fashion figures, the coloring of fashion figures and clothes, the basic principles of collection preparation, concept creation…

DAY 3, Saturday, 17.07.2021; Mooodboard preparation, color/fabric/material selections… Researching sources of inspiration and including them in the portfolio, information about design testing…

DAY 4, Sunday 18.07.2021; Portfolio reviews and critiques, comments, suggestions…

Certificate: In order for a participant to be entitled to receive a "certificate", they must first attend the classes at least 70%.

İTÜ Faculty of Textile Technologies and Design

Textile Engineering Department of Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) is the first and the single one offering textile engineering education in Istanbul, and also comes first among the top textile engineering schools in Turkey. Its history could be traced back to 1955; the year in which the textile division was established in the body of Mechanical Engineering. The school gained its current name and independent status in 1983. Therefore, it is obvious that the Textile Engineering Department is fairly new compared to the history of İTÜ stretching back to 240 years.
